Dead Star(Synopsis&Summary) By: Paz Marquez-Benitez

Dead Star
Synopsis
The story revolves around Alfredo Salazar, a bachelor over thirty, and two women. Esperanza, his fiancée of four years, and a young  girl from out-of –town named Julia Salas. Everyone takes it for granted that Alfredo will eventually marry Esperanza. But although he is ashamed to admit it, the intensity of his passion for Esperanza has faded and he is attracted to Julia, whom he meets at a dinner party. But  he is aware that all his loved ones- including Julia would disapprove of his failure to honor his understanding w/ Esperanza. So he and Esperanza get married and have a family. Then, eight years later, he goes on a business trip to the town where Julia, still unmarried, lives. He goes to visit Julia, whom he has never forgotten. But he is surprised to find that he no longer feels attracted to her. He compares the memory of his love for her to dead stars, whose glow is still visible from the earth for years after they are gone.
Dead star is a love story about a man named Alfredo Salazar, who has his fiancé in the person of Esperanza and they have been engaged for quite some time. Society views them as an ideal couple. Their wedding is about to take place in the near future. Prior to the wedding however, he sees another girl, when he goes w/ his father to a judge’s house. He tries to seek love  in her, but she kinda declines. In that way, Alfredo become a little bit confused in his upcoming wedding where he is about to chose between two options, to do what he should do by marrying Esperanza as prescribed by his parents or to do what he wants to do by having Julia Salas, his dream- the dead star in his life.
In the story, dead star symbolize a dream for something that is nonexistent. The guy loved the girl. She was his dream, his star. He thought there was love there. But like a dead star w/c is so far away, and whose shine could actually be the leftover travelling light from it, he was a long way from getting the girl, and the love he thought was possible, never was.

hear me, FRIEND

By: D/Cdt Loon, Shan Socrates A.

Let me discourse, the secret of my care,
more than anybody can declare.
for bear me not to say these
Let the wile weigh my words, the  fool may miss.

my heart grieves within the grounds of grief
You of little faith to the friendship we keep
Who took me as a friend but trust me not
and now see, I do not know you that much.

I never thought you were fickle-minded
You were supposed to be open-minded
Who would level it equally
before bursting out brutally?

Are you not aware of the lustful eyes?
The tongue that speak only lie
The heart that is untrue
Ready to ruin me and you?

Pity, my friend,
We have come to an end
It hurts to know you doubt
That it was me who started it all about.

Remember this anyway
Before I fade away
The world is the spate, Man is like a salmon
And falsehood the bright bait.

The SHE I Love

By: D/Cdt. Agripo, Romel T.

Naught but a "SHE" shall suit so finely
The pure badge of femininity
She who depicts a lady-like guise
One who loves wearing a painted face.

Elegance with which she treasure most
Take heed not of cost ye gallant host
And she'll sail thee safe from coast to coast.

Vessel's a dame in a myriad ways
From the archaic time to the future days
She who faces fierce storms with calmness
Confronts monstrous waves with sheerest peace.

And lo! when such beauty comes along
In tumultuous sea,she sings a song
With entrancing voice she soothes the sea
Men throng around not exempting me.

An Kinabuhi ( The Life )

By: Richard Canaman
An kinabuhi san tawo may katubtuban,
Puno san pagkapait, katam-is, kasakit og kalipayan,
Tikang san pagburod ngadto san pagtalwas san kalibutan,
Tikang san ginikangan ngadto san mga kaapo-apohan,
Waray katapusan an pag-gios san kalibutan
An tawo puno san hingyap para sa kaupayan, karubat san ngatanan,
Og para sa kalugaringon nga kinahanglan,
kay nano an tawo waray pagkakuntento san kinabuhi,
kadamo san ginhihimo, diri naundang kon diri matumanan an karuyag,
Labi na yana nga panahon san makabag-o nga teknolohiya,
Halos natanan nga tawo nadepende sini
Tungod kay ginagamit man ini san komunikasyon, transportasyon og iba pa
Pero tungod lat sini nga mga teknolohiya mas dako liwat an nagin epekto sa katawhan
may sa kaupayan og sa pagkarubat diri la sa tawo pati na gud sa kalibutan
Sanglit ada na an resulta san mga ginhihimo san kadam'an
Pagbag-o san temperatura, pag iba-iba san panahon na diri akma sa bulan o lugar
Polusyon sa ngatanan nga kita manta an ginbubulsan
Mga tawo lat an nagsasakit, namamatay,og nagkukuri
Sano pa dawla kita magmamata,
Sano pa dawla mapupukaw ngan makit-an nahinungdan san kalibutan.

Despite of All

By: Richard Canaman

Despite of all challenges given to me,
here I am facing it until i fulfill it and never give-up
Despite of all struggle in life,
I still strive and looking forward and optimist that there's end of it
Despite of all adversity I am in countered day by day,
here I am still standing and proud
Despite of all I'm down,
I still smile and glad too seek God's strength and wisdom
Despite of all detractors that surrounds,
I don't mind it forget and pass by
Despite of all friends that gone,
I still treasured until they comeback again
Co'z despite of all this things,
I'm vivid and humble to say I made it on my own,,,

Amay Namon

(Visayan version)

Amay namon aada ka sa mga langit
Pagdayawon an imo ngaran
Ikanhi mo sa  amon an imo gin hadian
Ipasunod an imo ka burot'on
Dinhi sa tuna, sugad man sa langit
Tagan mo kami niyan san karan on namon
Sa ikina adlaw,sa ikina adlaw
Pagwad'on mo an amon mga sala
Sugad san pagwara namom san nakasala sa amon
Ngan diri mo kami bayaan
Basi diri kami pagdad'on san mga panulay
Kundi bawi'a kami san mga karat'an

Teacher

By: Canaman, Richard

Teacher is our second parent,
They teach us how to be independent,
Nurturing and develop our talent’s

Teachers are good listener,
They are good adviser,
They are sometimes terror,
But often times a good provider,

Being a teacher is not as easy as pie,
They got mad but still have patience,
They got exhausted but still strive,
They got sick but till undersea,

Our teacher is our heroes,
Molding our minds for brighter future,
Setting goals toward excellence,
and never lasting knowledge.

Time

By: Canaman, Richard
`
If I had given a chance,
To recall my past time,
I will let it be precious to find,
The treasure’s I’ve done in my life,

When I look at the sky,
I am wondering why?
I wasted to spread my wing to fly,
And listen of what they say,

There’s regret in my mind,
How to let things back behind,
All my dreams bend,
And my heart becomes blind,

On my second time around,
I’ll keep my feet on the ground,
Doing things to make them proud,
The journey’s go beyond the clouds.

A Teachers Poem

By: Mr. Romeo Robino Jr

Remember me when the time has come to big goodbye
Taking those footsteps with tears and sights
All those moments that hold  our endless dreams
Will forever flow in my heart like a deep running stream

Remember me when the day has come to say farewell
Waving those smiles which says that time will tell
Having no clues if someday we all meet again
In this same room I'll wait for you no matter when

Remember me when the night gives you so much cold
Promise I will never let go of what i hold
wishing all of you who aspire to follow that star
May in his time reach it no matter how far

Remember me when the candle gives you no more light
In darkness a single spark will say that I still fight
For a reason that I will never stop waiting for you
Until the stage has come that my days are few

Remember me when Good Morning! have finally ceased to echo
It doesn't mean my child that there will be no tomorrow
for as long as there is someone like me who never get tired
The sun will still rise even if I have my final rest and died

Remember me when you're the one who decides to pick mu chalk
I will always be at your side in every moment as you walk
Preaching the word and the essence of what is true

Heaven is the faculty room that dearly waits for you.
