What do you call the words that I’ve given you earlier? If they are action words, what do you call them? I’ve already discussed the regular verbs When do we say that a verb is a regular verb? What have you notice on the word hunt activity that you did? Do the past tense of the words or verbs end with ‘d’ or ‘ed’? Very good! Those are what we call Irregular Verbs Irregular Verbs are verbs that do not form their past tense by adding ‘d’ or ‘ed’ to their base form They form their past tense by changing some letters within the word Ex. 1.    Write—‘I’ was change into ‘o’ 2.    Speak—‘ea’ were change into ‘o’ 3.    Drive—‘I’ was change into ‘o’ Can you give another example? At times, the past tense is formed by changing the spelling of the entire word Ex. Go—went Eat—ate At times, the past tense is also formed by eliciting some letters from the verb. Ex, Hide—hid Feed—fed Did you understand?!

The words are action words If the words are action words they are verb We can say that a verb is regular verb when we add ‘d’ or ‘ed’ to form its past tense No, the past tense of the verbs do not end with ‘d’ or ‘ed’ Examples: 1.    Throw- Threw 2.    Buy- Bought 3.    Give- Gave

What are Irregular verbs? If we don’t add ‘d’ or ‘ed’ to the verb, how do we form the past tense of the verb? Very good!  Can you give example? Is it possible to form the past tense of the verb by changing the entire spelling of the word or verb? How? Can you give example! What is the other ways of forming the past tense of a verb? Can you give example? Ok, very good! So there are ways on how to form the past tense of a verb by not adding ‘d’ or ‘ed’ to the verb

Irregular verbs are verbs that do not form their past tense by adding ‘d’ or ‘ed’ We can simply form the past tense of the verb by changing only some of the letters within the words Example; Fall—fell Drink—drank Yes!,  verbs can also be formed their past tense by changing the entire spelling of the verb Ex. Go—went       Eat—ate Example; Feed—fed Hide—hid
